Methodology and tools for a new circular economy model for nexus application in rural areas in Palestine
Energy Reseach Center working on a research study for the "Methodology and tools for a new circular economy model for nexus application in rural areas in Palestine" under the horizon 2020 project 5TOI_4EWAS : focus on Targeted Open Innovation in energy, water and agriculture societal challenges through a balanced innovation-friendly ecosystem in the Southern Mediterranean Neighborhood (SMN) based on quintuple helix and NEXUS approach.

The main objective of this study is to contribute to a better understanding of the potential impact and of the limitations of PV systems on sustainable agriculture and rural development, especially concerning income-generating activities.
The rural community of Fer`ah /Hebron district are located in area "C" near Adora settlement, most of people around (70%) depend on livestock's for their livelihoods, on other hands, the availability of water is significant for the people.
The research project seeks a comprehensive improvement of the quality of life of the inhabitants of Fer`ah by deploying reinforcements for livestock production, water system, the introduction of dairy and wool production resources improvements, with the addition of new electrical inputs in the production process. In addition, the PV solar systems will provide enough electricity to cover the electricity needs of production, domestic power demand. Thus, improving the quality of life and safety for the population and promoting the improvement in the environment.
